Hold off on the supplies, good people of Pakistan!

Or so seems to be the theme going around today. Seems like the initial efforts at collecting, transporting and delivering relief supplies has gone on much faster than anticipated and the truck-loads of goods are beginning to pile up in the 4 large centers. This is because routes and networks of further distribution to the far-flung areas are still patchy and have not completely been established. Networks dependant on the locals are unreliable at best as the locals are still devestated by the sheer magnitude of lost lives. Military networks are in their infancy and are often bogged down by more immediate needs of the rescue operations.

Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Balakot and Mansehra are receiving supplies which are often raided by the locals who have begun picking and chosing to their liking before discarding the rest of the material. These then remain in the towns with the delivery-men unaware of where to go and what course of action to take.

The course of action suggested here at LUMS for us atleast is to hold onto the material supplies and continue collecting monetary aid. The supplies can then be sent at a couple of days later. The money in the mean time is being collected for the rebuilding process as I've mentioned before.

Now it seems that we wait for a day and see what develops. And pray!
