Yet another proud achievement for those undertaking relief efforts in Pakistan, and specifically at LUMS. Not only has the Social Enterprise Development Programme (SEDP) been working with NGO's in Kashmir to build up their data-bases about the relief and rehabilitation efforts, RISE-PAK has just been launched and is helping to coordinate all efforts in the north. Browse through, provide information if you can, gain information if you need, and on your way out, check out who the people behind this venture are. Right now, I'm proud of the work each and every Pakistani is putting into rebuilding after the disaster.

Sitting around last night (in a vain attempt at studying for my Microecon midterm) I thought about the actual number of dead people. Reeny's dad is right: there probably are close to half a million dead people. It may be hard to swallow for those of us sitting snuggly in our homes, but it's still a whole lot more plausible than the 45-60K figures that have been floating around considerng that magnitude of this catastrophe.

What's really shitty at times like these are real, living, (supposedly) educated, (allegedly) intelligent young people, who have all the luxuries in the world, blowing off the entire relief effort as someone else's problem. For these characters the devastation of millions of people is worth less than an hour's worth of their time, a tiny bundle of clothes they don't wear and a weekend's worth of DVDs they watch only once. These are people I tried not to write, talk or think about but sometimes...bloody, motherfucking cunts give all humanity a bad name.

Thank God for people working round to clock to salvage Mankind from the sins of these assholes!

Oh, check this out. If you know people of the above-mentioned variety, pass this on to them!
