Detroit pulls yet another demolition job on a hapless opponent. They're now undefeated after 8 games to match their second best season start from their Bad Boys days. McGrady sat out almost all of the second half coz of back spasms. He's not going to hold up through the season. Despite some poor possessions throughout the game, the Pistons managed to stay on top all the way.

Considering the last time Detroit had an 8-0 start was right after being beaten in the Finals in a Game 7 the year before by the Magic-led Lakers, and that they went on to win the championship that season, this start bodes well for Pistons fans. Last season ended for the Pistons in a heart-breaking Game 7 defeat in the Finals to the Duncan-led Spurs. They were evenly matched till the 3rd quarter in that game, going into the start of the 4th with the scores tied at 3 games and 57 points a piece (if my memory serves me!) Now, they have something to prove.

As in previous years though, I'm rooting for the Spurs. They've upgraded and retooled while maintaining their original core and adding yet more depth. If anything, Beno Udrih will get even less playing time with with Nick Van Axel in the team and the Spurs are literally 3-deep in every spot. If Pop can manage playing time well enough (which I'm betting he can) expect to see the Spurs with the Western Crown.

The East I'm predicting to the Finals but not beyond. Heat-Pistons. From there, it depends on the MDP. Flash carries them to the Conference Finals. From there, The Diesel has to take over for them to beat the Pistons and the Spurs. I don't see that happening.

There's two dynastic teams in the NBA right now. Come June, they'll be playing for the Championship! It may still be November and you never know how things go but barring unforseen circumstances (a million of which might become apparent over the next few months) you have my prediction.
