Played b'ball in the sports complex today. Other than the fact that I'll probably never get to play on a wooden floor here, the place rocks. Just the acoustics of the place--each bounce echoes around me--make it a worthwhile exercise. If the wooden flooring is ever installed, those acoustics will feature the regular squeaking and screeching of sneakers jumping, sliding, running, stop-stepping, dribble-faking, crossing over each other.

The rims aren't up to full height yet. When they are, just the thrill of taking a shot in an indoor facility is enough to make me want to play. The entire dynamic of the game changes when you move it indoor. You're no longer breathing in fresh air. The effect of wind direction, temperature, rain and wind in general is negated. Not having all sorts of flying, buzzing and hopping monstrosities to contend with in Lahore during summer and rain is god's greatest blessing. More than anything else, the closed surrounding provide you with the means to concentrate completely on the game itself and not be distracted by cars driving by and people playing volleyball next door!

Hope I get to play here someday when the whole place is finally up and running properly.

Basketball is the only thing other than women I ever fantasize about!
