She's back!

And she looks better than ever.

Chevrolet relaunched its Camaro at the Detroit Auto Show this year with the display of a concept design slated for production in late 2008 and release in early 2009. I still think the '69 is the best, not just as a model of the Camaro but the greatest muscle car ever! But the new Camaro encorporates the qualities and persona of the older models--not the lame-ass Mustang rip-offs on the late 80s and early 90s--and contemporizes it with such effortlessness. The low, wide chassis and body are unmistakably Chevy SS--think Corvette, Sting Ray or Impala--and the old Camaro lines and angles are maintained.

Here's the real treat for lovers of the old Camaro (again I'm not talking about the 80s-90s models): the new concept returns to the chassis exposing rear. This is the best up-skirt a motor-head will ever see!

Chevy has said that they aim to retain the drive and power of the original Camaro ("a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs," joked Chevy execs when the Camaro was first released) while up-dating the technology, look and comfort of the 'vicious animal' to match current trends.

The Camaro remains one of Chevy's most popular cars ever made. "As evidence that we're not completely brain-dead, GM will build the Chevy Camaro," GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced on August 10.

I'm a happy, happy man! Now to wait for the day I can actually afford and own one.

(It'll obviously be a '69!!!)

A Camaro is a ripoff of a Mustang. Always has been and always will be. And that's not a particularly good car to copy.

I love the new design, but it's just gonna be another American job. Cheap materials, cheaply put together, heavy as hell, and with a big-ass engine that tops out at 3000rpm.

If you want to spend 30K, and you have a thing for big heavy stupid cars, get a 350Z.

If you want a sports car, get an S2000, a Z4, or a Miata.
